Vanessa's POV
He's not here, I concluded, letting Max Talbot pull me in. The girls and I had managed to mingle with at least five of Sid's teammates, but Crosby himself was nowhere to be found.
Max nuzzled against my ear and his bristly face made me giggle.
"I'm a magician, you know..."
"Oh, yeah?" I laughed.
"Uh-huh", he mumbled, his mouth vibrating against my ear.
"How so?" I couldn't help but smile.
"I can turn those giggles into screams with just one finger," he whispered, his hot breath tingly against my skin.
I shuddered ever so slightly, my heart racing and my breathing a little unsteady as I pictured for a moment what Max could do to me. My thoughts were interrupted, however, when someone yelled out "Vanessa!" from across the courtyard.
I turned to find Sidney approaching us with speed, a look of determination plastered on his face.
"H-hey," I stammered, shifting my weight uncomfortably. Max didn't let go.
Sid nodded at Max. "I see you've met 'Yasmine'."
There was that fucking name again. "My name is not Ya-"
"The Yasmine?!" Max exclaimed, dropping his hand from around my waist and slowly retreating.
Sid nodded slowly, a smile spreading across his face.
What the fuck was going on here? "Hey, I'm not Ya-"
"For real, Bro?" he asked again, this time shaking his head in mock disbelief. When Sid continued to nod, Max replied with a "damn" and pulled Sid into a brotherly embrace. "You did good, Kid. Real good."
Just as I was about to ask them for an explanation, I was suddenly flanked by a very drunk Daisy and Heather.
"Sidney!" Heather shrieked like a little school girl, almost spilling her drink on me.
"Hi," Sid said cautiously, shooting me a nervous glance as Heather all but collapsed on him.
Dear God, she was hammered. I cringed, mouthing an 'I'm sorry' as I struggled to hold Heather up.
Max and Sid exchanged glances before Max offered to take care of Heather. "Don't worry, she'll be in good hands," he said with a wink.
"But - but, I got dibs!"Heather protested as she was escorted away.
"Wow, this is embarrassing. I'm sorry, she's been handed drinks since we got here and -"
Sid shook his head and brushed off my apology. "Hey, no need to apologize. We all do stupid things when we're drunk, " he added meaningfully.
We stared at each other for a moment before Daisy cleared her throat and finally introduced herself.
"Since my friend seems to have lost her manners," she slurred, extending a hand.
"Sid," he replied, shaking it. "It's nice to meet you."
Daisy giggled. "Wow, my boyfriend is going to go absolutely NUTS when he finds out I'm here with you!"
"Hey, no drama here," Sid said, pulling his hand back. "I'm here with them," he laughed, jerking his thumb towards the boisterous hockey players behind him.
"Huh?" Daisy shot me a look of confusion. "Right, I uh - I..., I didn't mean you me, I just... I meant - well, you're at this party..."
It suddenly dawned on me that Sid still had no idea I knew who he was, and probably thought the same of my friends. Shit. Just as I was figuring out how to salvage the convo without giving anything away, a soaring football knocked the drink out of Daisy's hand and onto the ground, the red wine splashing up and staining her white sarong. She freaked out and I tried to comfort her by promising it didn't look that bad.
"I LOOK LIKE I GOT MY FUCKING PERIOD!" she screamed.
"I'll uh...get the club soda," Sid offered, hurrying to the bar.
"At least someone is a perfect gentleman!" Daisy snapped, as the guy who came to collect his ball mumbled a quick apology.
"Ya," I mused, looking back at Sid. "He's a regular Saint."

SIDNEY'S POV
"Any club soda?" I asked the bartender, who nodded and proceeded to pour me a glass.
As I waited, I thought about the scene with Vanessa's other friend, the one who had left with Max. How did she know my name? Did that mean Vanessa had talked about me? I found myself smiling at the thought. Maybe she wasn't mad at me after all.
I could still hear her friend shrieking as I carried club soda and napkins back to the crowd. "Try dabbing at it with this," I said.
Daisy accepted gratefully, dousing her sarong and trying to rub out the stain with a dry napkin. Oh boy.
"Here, let me," Vanessa offered.
"It's no use!" Daisy cried, dropping the cup (it was plastic) and unwrapping her sarong. "It's ruined! I'm going back to the room."
Wow. Her body was just as banging as Vanessa's. Maybe more. Did hot girls really only hang out with other hot girls?
"Right now?" Vanessa asked, nervously biting her lip. She tried not to make it obvious, but I could sense the desperation in her voice begging Daisy to stay. Now that I'd had a glimpse of what Daisy offered, I didn't want her leaving either.
"The party's just started, you can't leave now."
She didn't seem the dramatic type, but I think in her state of inebriation Daisy didn't have the patience to listen to us.
"I have to go now," she insisted.
Vanessa sighed. "Fine. I'll go with you."
"Why don't we go together?" I suggested, a fabulous idea dawning on me. "You can change into something else while we wait and we'll come back together. Safer that way," I added.
Vanessa's eyes lit up as she looked at Daisy to answer.
"You are so sweet," she blushed, clutching her sarong to her chest.
As we exited the courtyard, I couldn't stop the grin from spreading across my face.
"Care to share?" Vanessa laughed teasingly.
I winked back at her, thoughts of an impending threesome dancing in my head. "Sharing is caring," I replied.
